Rotten Mango Book Covers

"Rotten Mango" is a conceptual true crime book series, taking inspiration from a podcast by the same name. These three book jackets take inspiration from three separate serial killer stories from the podcast. Each book cover is unique to the story told, each one has differing visuals with hints to the crime from actual clues or motives. The front and back of the books have a series of numbers on the back each unique to the book, this is the number of victims each killer had. These small details on the book jacket are meant to engage readers into guessing their meaning as they read the books, a second mystery to be solved.

Lagging in Life Campaign

The "Lagging in Life" campaign is a conceptual series for the energy drink Rockstar. This campaign is meant to bring attention to the applicable use of Rockstar Energy in daily life. I also utilized a more pixel looking style to reflect Rockstar Energy's main consumes, which are gamers, the tag "Level Up Now!" is also a reflection of this. The illustrations depicted show scenarios that anyone can be in allowing any viewer of the campaign to see themselves in it, thus not alienating non gamers to the campaign.

Starting

Starting is a short comic about a girl finding her purpose and passion in art as not only a hobby but as a career. The use of color changes between each page, as each has a different look and color vibrancy, is to demonstrate the mindset and emotions of the main character. Each of the four pages of this comic is designed to match the different stages the character is going through, showing her mental state in each page.This comic shows a struggle that many may feel when trying to find their purpose or who they are in life. With the ending of the comic being a hopeful one, showing that there is a path for everyone and that it just takes a bit of risk and courage to reach that goal.

A set of Spanish I and Spanish II vocabulary sheets made for local High school and Middle school Spanish teacher. With unique illustrations made specifically for each word in mind and made to reflect the students of the school.

The Woods

The Woods is an eight player board game that follows a story of survival as the players try and make it to the end of the game alive. It is a dark and magical game that takes inspiration from medieval and dark fantasy design. The game comes along with a cast of uniquely designed characters and cards.

Church Event Promotions

Two summer events that were done at a church I had an internship with over the summer of 2023. The first event was a children's sport hang out over the span of a week. from redesigning the logo to creating promotional materials for the event is what I was tasked with. The second event was the single service over Fourth of July week. Creating a pamphlet cover along with promotions to promotion video in both the building and the outside screen was what I was tasked with.

Hello, my name is Makenna Hobbs, I am a graphic designer and illustrator. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Graphic Design. I have experience with Adobe such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom, and premiere. I am interested in illustration, character design, book design, poster design, and comic illustration.When I am not working on projects I like to go for walks out side(nature and warmth are very calming), cuddle with my two cats, read some good books or comics, and organize around the house.
